About the Role
Camp Staff serve a portion or all of the summer season. They help create a safe, fun a transformative camp experience for campers. During BREAD camps, Camp Staff facilitate activities and small groups, keeping campers engaged and safe. They will co-lead cabins alongside CIT’s and participate in all areas of camp. During READ camps, Camp Staff lead morning activities, lead camper families, and facilitate afternoon workshops. Camp Staff need to
be flexible, be energetic, love working with kids, and be willing to pitch in wherever needed.
Responsibilities
Specific Responsibilities for BREAD Camp
● Enthusiastically participate in all aspects of the BREAD program, including wake ups, meals, morning programs, cabin time, free time, workshops, e evening activities, campfire compline services, music and games
● Provide leadership and overnight supervision for a cabin of 6-8 campers daily
● Work cooperatively with camp chaplains to carry out each camp program
● Lead a small group in daily transformative conversations
● Brainstorm, prepare, lead or co-lead, and cleanup workshops
● Supervise afternoon free time and pool activities while facilitating positive camper experiences
● Brainstorm, prepare, lead and clean up evening activities and campfires with other staff members
● Offer emotional support and behavior redirection as needed for campe
● Include all campers throughout the program, providing attention equally across the camp community
● Monitor and uphold safety and health standards as dictated by The Bishop’s Ranch, the Diocese of California, and the American Camp Association

● Provide leadership and supervision for a family group of 10-20 campers daily
● Work cooperatively with camp staff to carry out morning rotations, afternoon workshop and other camp activities
● Brainstorm, prepare, lead or co-lead, and cleanup workshops
● Supervise pool activities while facilitating positive camper experiences
● Offer emotional support and behavior redirection as needed for campe
● Include all campers throughout the program, providing attention equally across the camp community
● Monitor and uphold safety and health standards as dictated by The Bishop’s Ranch, the Diocese of California, and the American Camp Association

Qualifications
Requirements
● Experience working with children and youth, preferably in a camp setting
● First Aid/CPR certification (offered during staff training)
● Full attendance at staff training
● Job interview with the Camp Director
● National background check and voluntary disclosure statement
● Sign and agree to live according to our Camp Community Covenant
● Complete Safe Church online training
● Be at least 16 years old and two years older than the campers they serve as cabin counselors
Physical Requirements
● Physical ability to provide first aid to campers or staff (after completion of certification course)
● Must be able to move quickly and communicate clearly in an emergency
● Be able to stand for prolonged times, bend intermittently, walk long distances, hike on varied terrain including inclines and declines.
● Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate outdoor equipment and camp supplies
● Requires typical range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and
● The ability to lift up to 25 lbs
● Willing to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours with limited or simple equipment and facilities; and with daily exposure to the sun, heat, and animals such as bugs, snakes, etc.
Compensation
● Weekly stipend beginning at $400
● Room and board at The Bishop's Ranch during camp staff training, summer camp sessions and staff closing
● First Aid/CPR certification upon successful completion of the course during Staff Training
